As trainees work in our product centered woodworking program, they learn valuable introductory technical skills as well as team building and time management skills while gaining a paid job experience that they can use in their resume. Trainees are mentored in technical and soft skills development by Elpis staff and volunteers as they work side by side in manufacturing finished assembled products as well as ready to assemble Do-It-Yourself kits.
Assembled and do it yourself kits are made from recycled cedar fencing. We work directly with fence contractors to recycle cut-offs and old fences through the Elpis program. Our wood scraps after we complete the manufacturing process are recycled in partnership with Three Rivers Park District Outdoor Learning Center.
Products are available from our online store or as part of a woodworking workshop.
Host a Workshop
