St. Paul – More funding has made its way to Elpis Enterprises in the form of a $4,000 grant donation from the Old National Bank Foundation.
This $4,000 grant will go toward Elpis’s intern programs, which include the woodworking program. These programs help provide skills for career paths in construction and manufacturing.
“We’re always hoping to form new relationships to see where we can be in more service to the community where we reside,” said Corrie Knudson, Community Outreach & Financial Empowerment Officer for Old National Bank Foundation. “We were thrilled to see Elpis in the application process and especially when it was focused on workforce development.”
The Foundation seeks out applicants who have initiatives and/or missions to support middle to low-income individuals. Old National has not had as strong a foothold in the Twin Cities with non-profits working with at-risk youth in need of occupational skills, and Elpis has been an organization they chose for a grant to begin their expansion.
“We just enjoyed really hearing about both of their backgrounds, they’re both very passionate about what they do in the communities they serve. Just the way they’ve found that identified need in the community, there’s the fact that there are not as many going into the trades they provide and there’s obviously still a need for that in the ecosystem at large,” said Knudson.
Knudson says she and her colleagues at Old National hope this grant to Elpis Enterprises is the beginning of a fruitful partnership for them in the Twin Cities. Old National hopes to provide financial literacy assistance for Elpis Interns among many other things.
